Tammy Rosen,
Artistic Director, Modern and tap Instructor
Tammy has taught adults and youth in Colorado and Arizona for years. In 1997, she co-founded the professional modern dance company
NEW ARTiculations Dance
Theatre for which she choreographs, dances and teaches. In addition to her
performances with NEW ART, she has performed with FUNHOUSE movement theater, Tenth Street Danceworks and O-T-O Dance
(all in Tucson). She was a 2002 finalist for the Buffalo Exchange Arts Award
for emerging artists and is a a certified Fieldwork facilitator, a method which offers choreographers the opportunity to develop their
craft within a community of peers. She is in her second year of training to become a
Feldenkrais
®
practitioner
and is expecting a baby in September. |

Staci Alexander
has been dancing for 17 years. She has trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical,
and hip hop. She has toured with Up with People and The Young Americans,
traveling nationally and internationally to Sweden, Denmark, England, Ireland,
and Wales. She is currently a company member of The Human Project Urban Dance
Theater. Teaching is her passion, and preschool to kindergarten are her focus. |

Michelle Baas, Baton Instructor
Michelle Baas was a competitive baton twirler for 12 years beginning at the age
of 5. At the NBTA World Championships in Birmingham, England in 2000 Michelle
was awarded 2 gold medals. Since her discovery of fire dancing in 2001, she
dances with poi, batons, a 5-foot long staff, and fans that are lit on fire.
Her performances are offered to a variety of audiences for any special
occasion. The element of fire has offered an entirely new energy to her
previous practice and methods of teaching. She offers classes, workshops, and
private lessons in baton twirling and fire dancing. |

Amy Barr,
Modern/Contact Improvisation Instructor
Amy Barr has a BFA in dance performance from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign. She has studied Limon, Cunningham, Horton, Simonson and
release fundamentals. Amy taught advanced modern for Windfall Dancers in
Bloomington, IN 2001-2002 and for O-T-O Dance in Tucson. She taught dance last
school year at Flowing Wells High School. |

Renee Blakeley, Ballet Instructor
Renee received her BFA in Dance with an endorsement in Dance Education from the
University of Arizona. She is in her third year teaching dance at Pistor Middle
School where she directs the Pistor Dance Ensemble. Renee has taught dance in
the Netherlands the last two summers, and has traveled with the UA Dance
Ensemble to perform in Rome, Italy. This is Renee’s second season performing
and choreographing with New ARTiculations. |

Amanda
Crook, Children's Hip Hop Instructor
Amanda has been dancing for
many years. She has studied dance in Arizona and New York and was a member
of the Marana High School dance team, which won first in the State competition.
Amanda performs with the Viva AZ cast and The Human Project. She recently
began teaching children's hip hop classes and loves it! |

Lindley
Hunter Silverman, Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement Instructor
Lindley has a life-long passion for discovery. Her background is in
music and English education, then turning to Feldenkrais in 1988. She
takes pleasure in the excitement her students enjoy as they refine movements
and overcome limitations. For the past nine years, she has taught at the
UMC Wellness Center and maintained a downtown Tucson practice. |

Jehsel Lau, Salsa Instructor
Jehsel began as instructor of Dance at the “School for Teachers of Artistic
Education” of the SepyC (a Mexican Government Education Agency), and at the
“School of Art Jose Limón” in Sinaloa, Mexico, where she also studied Ballet and
Jazz. As a performer, she received a scholarship from the University "Tecnologico
de Monterrey", where she took classes in salsa with Hilda Rosas, a Cuban
professor of Modern Dance and "Bailes de Salon" (Salsa, Merengue, etc.), and
where she performed in several school performances and musical comedies. Then
she moved to Mexico City to work as a professional dancer for Gerardo Quiroz
Productions in Televisa San Angel and TV Azteca. Some of her more notable
performances of Bailes de Salon were with Gloria Gaynor (2006), in the
commercial El Mundial de Alemania (2005), and the movie Mosquita Muerta (2004). |

Julia
Miller, Pilates Mat Instructor
Julia
is
a certified Pilates Mat teacher. She teaches the classical Pilates
Method and has studied locally with Debbie Rocha, Nancee Woods and John White. In addition to teaching Pilates, Julia has performed modern dance for
many years with local companies including FUNHOUSE movement theater, O-T-O Dance and NEW ARTiculations Dance Theatre.

LeighAnn Rangel
Sotoymayor, Ballet and Modern Instructor
Leigh Ann is the Artistic Director, as well as a co-founder,
choreographer, performer and instructor for NEW ARTiculations. She earned her
Bachelor's Degree in Dance Education from the University of Georgia and her MFA
in Theater Arts/Dance from the University of Arizona. Since moving to Tucson in
1996, she has been an active Dance Specialist in the Tucson Community. Leigh Ann
was an Artist-in-Residence through the Tucson/Pima Arts Council's Rural Arts
In-School and After-School Programs. She has also worked as a Movement
Specialist for Third Street Kids, the Jewish Community Center's Early Childhood
Program, Casa de Los Ninos, Gymboree Play Programs, Dance Moves Studio, and the
Amphitheater Extended Program. |

Katie Rutterer, Ballet Instructor
Katie graduated from Washington University with a BA in dance. While there,
she studied with the Taylor 2 Company and at the American Dance Festival. She
danced with the Mid America Dance Company, the Midwest's largest and oldest
repertory dance company. Here in Tucson, she can be seen dancing with NEW
ARTiculations and FUNHOUSE movement theater. She is an MFA candidate in
the U of A's Dance program. |

Anton Smith, Hip Hop
Instructor
Anton is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Tucson based urban
dance company
The Human
Project. He is a native of Philadelphia, PA. He received his dance training
in the Philadelphia / New York area and has performed actively throughout the
U.S. since 1992. In 1996, Anton was awarded city-wide recognition by WHYY,
Philadelphia Public Access Television, for Most Dynamic Group for his VIBE
Hip-Hop Troupe. He continued his dance studies in the BFA program at the
University of Arizona in 1999 and received the Honors College and Medici
Scholars award for choreographic research in 2001. In 2002, at the finals of the
National Dance Association in Orlando, Florida, Anton's choreography won overall
in the Best Funk category. |

Jessica Walker, Bellydance Instructor
Jessica studied middle eastern belly dance, primarily Egyptian and Turkish, for
about six years before moving to Arizona. During that time she performed with a
dance troupe in a variety of venues. She now teaches beginning and intermediate
classes here and has plans of creating a dance troupe here in Tucson.
