Work Study

Work Study Program

The DanceLoft offers two workstudy programs designed to allow professional and non-professional dancers the opportunity to take classes for free. Our workstudy program offers an exchange of two hours of work per week (minimum) for two hours worth of classes or four hours of rehearsal space. Workstudy students are allowed to take any of the classes on the DanceLoft schedule. The workstudy program is open to all students. There are no auditions, and students at any level of training may participate. Participants may work as few or as many hours per week as desired, depending on availability. Participants must be responsible, prompt, and have a positive attitude. Our workstudy program is a great opportunity to receive training, and to be a part of the team.

Maintenance: The maintenance shift consists of cleaning the space (studios, offices, etc.). Times can be flexible, but MUST BE ARRANGED IN ADVANCE. A commitment of two months is required. If you wish to enroll for another two months, the request should be made to the manager in charge of the program.

Desk Reception: To qualify for this position you must maintain a pleasant, welcoming attitude at all times. You must also show that you are responsible in handling money, that you can remain calm under pressure. You must demonstrate that you are responsible, have a good understanding of the classes, schedule, and other programs at The DanceLoft, have a clear and courteous speaking voice, and that you have basic computer skills. A minimum of two references required.

**Training sessions are required before students can begin work study.* Work study students are generally chosen from our current student base. If interested, please demonstrate that you are a serious about dance by enrolling in classes and letting the Director, Gayl Zhao, know that you would like to be considered for a work study position.
